Frequently Asked Questions

No. In the state of South Carolina, you are allowed to see a physical therapist without a referral from a doctor for 30 days. Many times, this saves time and money and helps you feel better faster. We may recommend you see a physician at times as needed.
It depends on your insurance plans. Most plans cover most or all of your physical therapy appointments; however, you should check with your insurance provider to determine coverage and associated fees. If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact us – we’re here to help.

The following are just a few things that make Alive Physical Therapy special:

  1. Strong core values which will not be compromised with our commitment to providing exceptional one-on-one care to our patients and clients from licensed Doctors of Physical Therapy.
  2. Privately owned local business which allows us to do things our own way without the influence of outside corporate interests.
  3. We hire the best people who will help support you during every step of your rehab journey.
  4. We are invested in our community. This is where we work, live, and play, and our passion is to help you get back to what you love.
  5. We have a conveniently located, clean, modern environment for you to feel comfortable during your healing.
You need to bring yourself and wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows you to move easily. You should also bring any paperwork you may have related to your medical history, including: doctor’s referral, x-rays, ultrasounds, doctor’s notes.
Your Doctor of Physical Therapy will perform a thorough initial evaluation, which may include testing your mobility, strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and posture. They will help you identify the Source of your pain. They will then help you determine your goals and develop a treatment plan for you, which often includes some exercises to do at home. This first appointment can last up to an hour, with subsequent appointments lasting about 40-60 minutes.
Keep track of what symptoms you are having and what activities make them better or worse. This will help your therapist decide how to treat you.
Pain should not scare you. Pain is simply the body’s way of communicating a deeper underlying problem. The typical approach of going to your physician, resting, and taking pain medications is not always the best approach. Don’t rely on ”Dr. Google” and feel doomed that you need surgery or that your pain will lead to a chronic condition. Pain is not normal and should not be accepted. Please call us today to schedule an appointment – we’re here to help.
